CHECKER BAR -B-a

THEY SAY THAT being in love
is like floating on air anyway, so
its not too novel that former De-
troiter Michael Green proposed to
his wife of last week while both
were flying over Century City.
Calif. Sin a balloon . . . Her name
is Becky "Wiggy" Benyacar and
Mike is the local boy-made-good
son of George and Sylvia Green
living in Oak Park . . . Mike
brought out the champagne and
ring in the basket of a balloon
that had appeared in a Corvair
TV commercial he had written for
Campbell-Ewald .. . It is also the
same balloon seen in The Great
Race" and the Nancy Sinatra Spe-
cial and many more showbiz
events ...

MIKE'S FATHER, GEORGE,
played violin for the ceremony—a
first that was approved by Rabbi
William Kramer, who also per-
mitted' the recording and filming of
this momentous event since it was
in keeping with the show business
life of the couple . . It was held
on the S.S. Princess Louise at Ter-
minal Island, Calif. and attended
by many of the great names in
the world of television . . . After
work leading in Detroit and grad-
uating from Oak Park High and
University of Michigan, Mike
wrote ,commercials for Chevrolet
at Campbell-Ewald . . . In 1966,
he became a staff producer for
ABC-TV and has worked on "The
Hollywood Palace." "The Mod
Squad," "Judd For the Defense,"
"Garrison's Guerillas" and ABC
specials galore . . . He now has
his own production company, under
contract to ABC for "The Movie
of The Week" and CBS for "The
New People" . . . "Wiggy" is a
Sephardic Jewess, born in Cairo,
Egypt . . The two had been
dating since June 7, 1968 when
Mike took her to an ABC
Dick Cavett luncheon and intro-
duced her to all his ABC friends
. . . Between his phone calls and
the day of the date, she had for-
gotten his name! . . . However,
she won't ever forget the last
name again since its hers too now
. . . and a very happily married
couple are Mike and Becky Green
. . . love birds who made it big
in a balloon . . . no hot air!

WATCHING HIS GRANDMOTH-
ER, Goldie Miller, bake an egg-
plant for the holiday dinners, Scott
Michael Woolf, six-year-old son of
dental doctor Elroy and Jackie
Woolf, asked her if she was cook-
ing a plum . . . Goldie told him it
was an eggplant and little Scott.
turning' to grandpa Joe Miller. re-
marked "Boy! That sure would
make a heck of a great plum!"

20-YEAR REUNION OF Central
High "Class of '49" is Saturday
night at Hilcrest Country Club.
with the speaker former class-
mate, State Senator Sander Levin,
and music by ex-classmate Dick
Stein.
CALLING CLIVE CANTOR . . .
Remember back in 1948 when you
shot a sizzling 64 in the Canadian
Golf Tourney . . . and you were
beaten out by a fellow who round-
ed the course in 58? Amazingly
fantastic scores!
BERNARD BOLTON of Detroit
55, was named "Pythian of The
Year" for the State of Michigan
at the recent Knights of Pythias
Convention in Lansing . . . It was
long in coming, since Bolton, a
past grand chancellor of Michigan.
has been and still is an excep-
tionally active stalwart of the K

of P order.
