Maurice A. Landau, Active Zionist,
Leader in Local Educational Circles

Maurice. A. Landau, 1835 Dell
Rose, Pontica, for many years
active in Zionist educational cir-
cles, died last Friday afternoon
at the age of 76.
Surviving are his wife, Anna;
son, Graham; daughter, Carol;
two grandchildren, a brother and
two sisters in Russia.
Heading several important com-
mittees in behalf. of the United
Hebrew Schools, Mr. Landau was
a member of the UHS board and
was among the most active par-
ticipants in local educational ef-
forts.
Born in Russia, Mr. Landau was
a Detroit area resident for the past
47 years, and has been living in
Pontiac for the last 15 years. Ile
was an officer in the Hebrew Free
Loan Association, and an active
participant in programs of Kvutza
Ivrith.
With Mrs. Landau, Mr. Landau
served as host to many important
Zionist, educational and multi-cul-
tural community functions at which
visiting lecturers were entertained.
They were among the group of
music-lovers who sponsored week-
1y Saturday night songfests in their
home on occasions that were di-
rected by Cantor Sonenklar, Harry
Cohen and others interested in

Jack Tyner, Former
Saginaw Businessman

Jack Tyner, retired co-owner of
Saginaw Plumbing and Heating
Co., wholesalers, died Monday at
age 70. Mr. Tyner resided at 20712
Knob Woods, Southfield, for the
past few months.
Born in Russia, Mr. Tyner was
a member of Temple Bnai Israel
and Bnai Brith in Saginaw. He
leaves his wife, Estelle; a daugh-
ter, Mrs. Ben (Shirley) Abel of
Fort Lauderdale; two brothers,
Irving and Martin of Saginaw; and
two grandchildren.

Pursuing a long family tradi-
tion in the Lamport-Landau fam-
ilies, Mr. Landau was active on
the board of the Zionist Organiza-
tion of Detroit, was a strong sup-
porter of the Jewish National
Fund, was active in the Allied
Jewish Campaigns, Keren Haye-
sod drives and Con. Shaarey Zedek.
