Paul Olefsky, cellist: Annette Chajes, mezzo soprano: Harold Orbach. tenor: and the Cantata Academy. Arthur Stephan, • con- ductor, will participate in the open- ing concert celebrating the 30th season of the orchestra and its founder and conductor. Chajes. Bronislaw Gimpel will Brahms Violin Concerto Nov. 11. and Mischa Kottler will be soloist Dec. 9 in Chopin's E Minor Piano Concerto. Mischa Mischakoff is scheduled for March 3 in Mende;s- sohn's Violin Concert, and Beth Rhodes will play Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No. 2 April 7. The final concert will be held May 19. with Jerome Rosen playing the Dvorak Violin. Concerto. The Sunday afternoon family concert will feature Ruth Burcyck, piainst, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, Jan. 11. Theater Group to Do 'Summer and Smoke' Center Theater of the Jewish Center, has announced two of its three major productions for the coming season. On Nov. 1, 2. 5. 6 and 8, the group will present Tennessee Wil- liams' "Summer and Smoke," di- rected by Nick Calanni. Hal Young- blood, executive producer at WJR radio, will direct "You Can't Take It With You" by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, Feb. 14, 15, 18,'21 and 22. It is still considered to be in the experimental stage. The 99-bed: Zivian Center will open in late October. It is de- signed for post-acute patients who need only minimal nursing care while rp:Ittiring medical ob- servation or hospital services up to several weeks. Encouraged tow ard self-help patients will be allowed to eat in a central dining room and wear street clothes. Individual nursing care may be reduced by a third. The Ziviari wing will contain three units of' 33 beds apiece—five private and 14 semi-private. It will be completely carpeted and air conditioned and contain recreation- al and occupational therapy areas.. The $1,800 , 000 facility will in- crease the number of beds at- Sinai Hospital to 491. The shuttle bus provides trans portation from 'Blackstone Apart- ments (11:35 a.m.), Northgate Apartments (11:55), Votrobeck Dr. (12:05 p.m.), and Borman Hall (12:10 p.m.). , Appointments Named The return bus for Blackstone Apartments leaves the Center at 3:30 p.m. All other destinations are serviced by the 4:15 p.m. bus. The Sas- loves will host Mrs. Bomsten in their home for a three-month visit. Another sister, Mrs. Phillip Ross, lives on Eight Mile Rd., Southfield. Prior to Rosh Hashana, four sisters and two brothers who live elsewhere in the United States and Canada brought their families to visit here with Mrs. Bomsten, whose husband, married daughter and grandchild remain in Leningrad. Her brothers and sisters having left earlier for the United States, Mrs Bomsten fled her native Poland at age 16 and- found haven in Leningrad, where she has lived since. K. Kellogg Battle Creek. Sinai Foundation Executive Vice President Dr. Julien Priver announced Monday. The two-year grant - will be used to determine- the effectiveness of 'continued care" in relation to the cost, in Sinai's new patient care facility. a scut P lure by Sentinel No. 2 Morris Brose, will be unveiled in h e Ceremonies on the terrace of t University Center Building at Wayne State University noon, Wednesday. University President William R. Keast and Mrs. Keast will be join- ed in unveiling the sculpture by Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Linden, 12837 Santa Clara, the donors of the art piece. Linden is a partner in the Ler- ner-Linden Construction Co., which built the University Center. The sculpture, an abstract work in bronze standing 62 inches high,' will be located on a pedestal at the southern end of the terrace. Brose, 35 McLean, Highland Park, currently teaches sculpture at Oakland University. His work • has been exhibited at leading mu- scums in the United States and , abroad and is also included in • many private collections. He was the recipient of the Founders So- ciety Purchase Prize at the Detroit : Institute of Arts in 1962. Born in Poland, Brose came to ' the 'United States in 1931. He has studied at the Society of Arts and Crafts, Wayne State University and Cranbrook Academy of Art -. The Lindens have been active in ' social agencies, especially those devoted to the welfare of the young.
