Israeli security officials .attrib•
uted the wanton attack on civil-
ians to desperation on the part
of Arab terrorists in the Gaza

Strip.

Three guerrilla commanders were
killed recently when they resisted
arrest. They were believed to have
been smuggled into the Gaza Strip
from Lebanon by sea to bolster the
efficiency of Arab saboteurs. Is-
raeli authorities learned of their
arrival and moved swiftly - to ap-
prehend them. Thirty other terror-
ists were rounded up in the past
week along with large caches of
pistols and hand grenades.
