New Orleans Jews
Topic of Colorful
History by Korn

Painstaking and imaginative re-
search into primary source mate-
rial has uncovered one of the rich-
est lodes in American Jewish
history.
Dr. Bertram W. Korn's latest
book, "The Early Jews of New
Orleans." soon to be released,
probes Jewish life in that city
from 1757 to 1850, when it passed
from French to Spanish to Amer-
ican rule.
Dr. Korn, a noted authority on
the antebellum period of Ameri-
can Jewish history, has investi-
gated the riddle surrounding the
abstention of New Orleans' wealthy
Jews from Jewish sectarian con-
cerns. His study reveals the spe-
cial factors which characterized
the assimilation process of these
19th Century Jews.

Using the life stories of those
arriving in New Orleans prior to
1815, Dr. Korn has produced a
book replete with pictures of the
people and their times.
Published by the American Jew-

ish Historical Society with the sup-
port of the publication fund of
the Reform congregation of Ke-
neseth Israel, the Lucius N. Lit-
tauer Foundation and the Commu-
nity Endownment Foundation of
the Jewish Welfare Federation of
New Orleans, this volume contri-
butes to the growing body of in-
formation becoming available on
the history of the Jews in America.

Fully documented are the revela-
tIons in this book about the three
wars Israel had to fight with the i
Arab states. It emphasizes the
struggle for peace and the urgent
Israeli desire to attain amity ;
among the war - threatening Arab ! Anda and Schwartzkopf
peoples.

Of special value to students of
Middle East affairs are the appen-
dices which provide data regard-
ing Arab threats, the manner in '
which efforts are being made to
Undermine Israel's existence and
the texts of Arab threats to Is-
rael's security.

Perhaps the most efficient tool of the Realtors is Multiple Listing Service.
Through this Service, groups of Realtors are able to pool their resources
to ensure a wider range of customers when you're selling a house, a wider
choice of properties when you're buying one.
It saves time, money, and headaches. And you also have the invaluable
help of your Realtor every step of the way.
If you're buying or selling a house, do it the logical way: see a Realtor,
a professional in real estate who subscribes to a strict Code of Ethics.
