New Films Mann ed in Hollywood HERBERT G. LUFT BY (Copyright successful screen romance, "A Man 1969, JTA, Inc.) HOLLYWOOD — Alexander Mnouchkine, the Russian-born, vet- eran French motion picture pro- ducer, gave JTA an exclusive inter- view just before returning to Paris after completing here, "Again, A Love Story", starring Jean-Paul Belmondo and Annie Girardot—the latter the heroine of his "Golden Globe" winning "Live for Life" of 1967. At his makeshift office in the Samuel Goldwyn studios from which Mnouchkine had guided "the first French-language film" made for United Artists in America, the producer told us about the exciting venture of roaming about the countryside and seeing the States through the lens of the motion pic- ture camera, with Miss Girardot on the screen portraying a French actress essaying a film role in Hol- lywood, and Belmondo, a Parisian composer here to score the very same movie. Before the shooting is completed, the pair have a roman- tic idyll while touring the United States. CLASSIFIED ADVERTISEMENTS and A Woman," "Live for Life"; and last year "Life, Love and Death"; went before the cameras June 17 on flight from Los Angeles to San Francisco. * * * Joseph Srick, the producer- dir- ector of "Ulysses," currently is at work in Paris with filmization of an equally controversial subject, Henry Miller's "Tropic of Cancer" with Rip Torn portraying the author himself. Yvette Ginette Le- clerc, who starred opposite the late Raimu in Marcel Pagnol's "The Baker's Wife", essays the part of Miss Hamilton. Also in the cast is Phil Brown, who has resided in London ever since the McCarthy hearings of the early 1950s. Brown was one of the founder-members of the Hollywood "Actors Lab" and still is remembered here for his starring role in the stage produc- tion of "The Inspector General." We met Phil Brown in England in the 1950s, at which time he was living on a Thames houseboat.
