by David McKay (750 3rd, NY 17),
William Harrington poses an old
question about forgiveness for Nazi
crimes, the extent of terror and
the readiness to forget.
An American had been in Ger-
many during the first years of
Nazi rule until shortly before the
outbreak of World War H. He was
involved in business deals, he had
befriended a big industrialist as
well as a wealthy Jew who was ar-
rested by the Nazis and whose
family was kept in doubt about his
condition although he had been ,
murdered.
The American, Arthur Pomeroy,
fell in love with his German sec-
retary and she, in turn, was used
as a spy by the Gestapo official

BUENOS AIRES (JTA) — Gen.
Uzi Narkiss, who commanded the

War, told newspapermen here that
the fighting on the Suez Canal
would not erupt into a full scale
war because Israel wanted to
maintain the peace and because
President Nasser of Egypt was in
no position to wage war.
Gen. Narkiss, who is head of the
Jewish Agency Immigration De-

sion to promote emigration to Is-
