A WOMAN CAME INTO Drap-
kin Studios in Birmingham last
week and asked George Drapkin
if he could enlarge a picture she
had of her son . . . After replying
that he could, she asked if he could
remove her son's hat in the en-
largement . . . George said it
could be done, and brother Jack
Drapkin asked if the boy's hair
was parted, straight back or curly
. "Don't be silly," snapped the
lady. "You can see for yourself
when you get the hat off!"

NATE LANDGARTEN, former
Detroiter now living in Los An-
geles, is vice president of Bell
Electronics Corp. and recently also
appointed to the board of Pacific
Radio (KPFK-FM) on the coast
. . . He flew here to surprise old
friend and ex-localite Dr. Eugene
Roberts (Rabinowitz). head of bio-
chemistry at the City of Hope
Medical Center. who was being
given an alumni award at the
Wayne U. reunion . . . In 1966,
Eugene had received the Disting-
uished Service Medal from Wayne
Medical School . . . Nate flew here
and back to be with Eugene and
wound up with a citation to take
back to the LA chapter as the
West Coast alumni representative.

AN EMPLOYE at his liquor
store was getting married and in-
vited Julius Katz and wife Ila . .
When the date came, they took
their little daughter, Jayne, along
and are happy to say she acted like
a perfect lady, not saying a word
. . . except for one instance . . .
While sitting in the church watch-
ing the wedding, she suddenly ex-
claimed, "Mummy, has the lady
changed her mind?" . . . Ila asked
what she meant, and little Jayne
replied. "Well, she went up the
aisle with one man and came back
with another."

KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS, Detroit
55, has sold its building . . After
more than 19 years on Wyoming.
the members accepted a bid given
by the Palestinian Baptist Church
and voted to approve the sale .. .
Now is when the old-time members
of Detroit 55 are really needed!
Another site must be gotten . . .
and the membership is being urged
to band together in this revamping
of what is expected to be a new
and better Knights of Pythias.
Detroit Lodge 55.

CALLING BARRISTER LEO-
POLD J. SNYDER . . . Remember
back in 1957 when the just-another
costume party turned out to be
the thrill of a lifetime? . . . It was
a "Life Begins at - 40" party for
you, who, with wife Pauline, came
dressed as king and queen bees
. . Unbeknown to you, the king
bee was the theme of the decora-
tions . .. Sonny Eliot presented a
"This Is Your Life" written and
narrated by himself, assisted by
your close friend, Harry Jacobs,
who flashed album pictures on a
screen • Dr. Leonard Haking
almost didn't get in—he came
dressed as an Arab!
• • •
SCENE ABOUT TOWN ... Dan
Laven "cutting a mean rug" on
the London Chop House dance
floor . . . Harry Kaufman a trim
figure of health ... The big swim-
ming pool at Rose and Jay Gol-
man's in Northland Gardens get-
ting much action from cool-offers
these hot summer nights . . .
Another personnel clean-up by a
local TV station trying to make the
local big time should be most in-
teresting to the Jewish community.
