TAKE THE FAMILY OUT TO
DINNER AND A SHOW

BEFORE ISADORE FRANKEL
passed away in 1964, he had put the
three sons of wife Dorothy and
himself into college . Today. the
last one to graduate, young Jerome.
has joined in making Dorothy a
very proud 'mother . . with 1969
being a never-to-forget year .. . .
Marvin, appointed judge of Oak
Park, was elected to a four-year
term as municipal judge . . . Dr.
Maurice received an award voted
by the interns at Sinai Hospital as
"contributing the most to the edu-
cation of the interns," making it
the third year he has won the
award (the residents voted for Mor-
rie in 1962.63 and 1963-64) ... Now
Jerry has graduated from the
School of Osteopathy in Chicago.
winning eight of the 10 awards
given as the most outstanding stu-
dent ... (surgery, anatomy, two in
leadership, president of his junior
and senior classes, making the
dean's list and winning the $20 0
Upjohn Award given to the student
with the highest grade.) ... This is
the first year the School of Osteo-
pathy is honored in "Who's Who In
American Colleges and Universi-
ties" as Jerry joins his brothers
Marvin and Maurice in making the
coveted national book . . Father
Isadore was a firm believer in col-
lege education, putting himself
through, getting wife Dorothy start-
ed at Wayne and having their sons
receive higher learning ... But he
never dreamed that all three boys
would one day make magnificent
marks for themselves ... and so it
is for wife and mother Dorothy to
carry the pride for both her and
Isadore, never to forget the influ-
ence he had on their education
while modestly neglecting the all-
important fact that where Isadore
left off, she bravely carried on.

JONATHAN ROSE, son of Milton
and Zelda Rose, now in his second
year at Miami U. Law School, will
come in to be best man at the
marriage of his younger brother
David, Aug. 24, to Allison Holzman.
daughter of Dorothy and barrister
Erwin Holzman.

ERRATA ... The name is Sharri
Dickstein, NOT Shirley Dickstein
. . . daughter of Mary and Sid
Sachs.

HAL SILK has returned home
after playing a command perform-
ance in Europe ... courtesy of the.
United States government . . . In
addition to his offical duties with
the U.S. forces, he appeared at
various continental niteries in Ham.
burg, Munich and Paris as a song-
. ster . . . Hal is back now to return
to TV production.

BECAUSE OF THE faith and
dedication of Bertha Brotman, a
devoted teacher, hundreds and hun-
dreds of children each year are
awakened at a very early age to
I the creative joys of learning . . .
I Summer subbing and vacationing,
Bertha continues to pioneer in the
I field of kindergarten reading in
inner-city and northwest area
schools . . . After many years of
obstacles, she finally gained official
permission to continue teaching
reading to kindergartners ... Gra-
tified parents of her students have
sent Bertha written kudos express-
ing pleasure and amazement at
having their youngsters read at the
age of five ... She received a cer-
tificate of recognition signed WY the
parents of all 27 kids in her class
I at Shurly Elementary "for having
given our children a year of excels-
tional teaching service over and
I above the normal requrements."
