Rabinowicz, Zionist leader, banker and author, died June 27 at age 66. A native of Austria, he held a PhD degree from the University of Prague, where he later taught his- tory. President of the New Zionist Or- ganization of Czechoslovakia from 1925 to 1939, Dr. Rabinowicz was a founder of the Zionist-Revisionist movement there. On the day of the German occupation, Dr. Rabin- owicz left Czechoslovakia, shortly before the Gestapo came to his apartment to arrest him. Before coming to the United States in 1956, Dr. Rabinowicz spent 17 years as chairman and managing director of the Anglo- Federal Banking Corp. He was on the editorial board of the Jewish Publication Society, was an overseer of the Jewish Theo- Logical Seminary and a member of the executive board of the World Jewish Congress. His li- brary of Judaica consisted of more than 15,000 volumes. Dr. Rabinowicz authored "Fifty Years of Zionism" (1950), "Wins- ton Churchill on Jewish Problems" (1956), "Herz!, Architect of the Balfour Declaration" (1958) and "The Jewish Cyprus Project." Co- editor of "The Jews of Czechoslo- vakia," published last year, he had just completed a book on "Arnold Toynbee and the Jews." He also made many studies of Jewish and Zionist history. Among his survivors is a son, Dr. Theodore Rabb, associate profes- sor of history at Princeton Univer- sity.
