NEW YORK—Tourists with fond
memories of bumpy rides down to
Eilat in a Piper Cub, will have a
surprise waiting for them on the
next trip aboard Israel's domestic
airline.
Early this summer, a little twin-
engine transport plane seating 22
passengers will officially inaugu-
rate Israel's aircraft industry. The
plane is the Arava, an Israeli-de-
signed and manufactured short
takeoff and landing (STOL) trans-
port, which will go into production
next March.
It will be for domestic use at
first, and after that will sell for
5300.000 to all interested parties.

Cadillac hotel Sunday, with Rabbi
Leonard Callan and Cantor Nicho-

The couple's parents are Dr. and
Mrs. Irvin A. Wilner of Argyle
Crescent. and Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Berlin of Joy Rd.
The bride wore a gown of Alen-
con lace over English net with a
high neckline embroidered with
seed pearls and short puffed
sleeves. On her head was a Juliet
cap of matching lace.
Ruth Ann Wilner, of Ann Arbor.
was maid of honor, and Elaine
Wilner, of Ann Arbor. was brides-
maid.
Randall Banks was best man:
ushers were Evan Wilner. of Ann
Arbor, brother of the bride, and
Mark Berlin. brother of the bride-
groom.
Following a honeymoon in the
Bahamas. the couple will reside
in Ann Arbor, where the bride-
groom attends the University of
Michigan's school of medicine.

Standard Federal Savings and
Loan Association announces a new
5.25 per cent certificate savings
account that can be opened for at
least $5,000.
Effective July 1, this new six-
months certificate savings account
will pay compounded earnings
quarterly giving an effective rate
of 5.25 per cent per year. This is
the highest rate on insured savings
currently allowable by law in
Michigan.
Money can be withdrawn without
notice prior to the maturity date
and it earns 4 per cent per year
computed on a daily basis from the
date of-.,issue to the date of with-
drawal. Interest is paid and com-
pounded quarterly.

This marks a significant step
for the Technion-Israel Institute
of Technology, whose aeronautic-
al engineering department has
been growing steadily since it
was opened in the early 1950s.

During a visit here. Alexander
Goldberg. president of the Tech-
nion, said that while the Israel air
forte must presently import its air-
craft from abroad, the Arava is the
first step toward production of Is-
raeli fighter planes.

The Israel Aircraft Industries
was born in 1957, and by 1960 was
producting its first foreign-licensed
planes. Most Technion graduates
are now employed by the air force
and IAI.
