Club here? reported Tuesday that
the Israeli military authorities, "in
a move unprecedented in the state's
21 - year history, "have agreed to
give foreign correspondents in Is-
rael special "military correspond-
ent" status.
A report by Hal McClure of the
Associated Press, published in the
club's bulletin, said the new ac-
certifications would permit foreign
correspondents --to accompany Is-
raeli troops on missions both in
and outside Israeli-held territory
and would allow them to spend
more time with fighting units on
' front-line duty.
The bulletin also reported that
the Israeli Government Press Office
had begun to add more personnel
and expand its facilities in an effort
to speed the flow of information. It
