Rabbi Philip Frankel, spiritual leader, and Cantor Bruce Wetzler conducted services of dedication written by Rabbi Frankel. Guest speaker was Rabbi Alfred Fried- man of Framingham Center, Mass., who preceeded Rabbi Fran- kel as spiritual leader of Shaarey Zedek. Also participating in the service were Dr. Hyman D. Shapiro, pres- ident of the congregation; Mrs. Judson Werbelow, president of the sisterhood; Charles Levy, new president of the youth group; and other officers. During a formal dinner-dance that Saturday evening, Rabbi Fran- kel installed the new officers and members of the board of trustees. They are Marvin A. Lieberman, president; A. Stanton Golden, business vice president; Arthur L. Kramer, religious vice president; 1 Arnold Zumberg Jack Rachman and Sidney Rosenberg, secretaries; Sydney D. Goodman, treasurer; and Alan Ginsburg, Ted A. Levy, Francis N. Fine and Norman H. Sernick, trustees. The weekend was culminated at an open house in the new synagogue. Guests toured the building and joined with mem- bers in a social hour. Among the visitors were Bishop Alexander Zaleski of Lansing and Mayor Gordon L. Thomas of East Lansing. Cong. Shaarey Zedek, organized 51 years ago, moved into the new 5750,000 synagogue in January. The former synagogue on N. Penn- sylvania Ave., Lansing. was built in 1932. The sanctuary of the new struc- ture seats 270 persons and is con- nected with a social hall, which accommodates an additional 300 for services.
