U.S. Educational Crisis
Goes Beyond Black-Jewish
Relations, Says Maslow

LONDON (JTA)—The education-
al crisis in America goes far be-

yond the relations between Negroes
and Jews in the United States, ac-
cording to Will Maslow, executive
director of the American Jewish
Congress.
Maslow, an adjunct professor at
the City College of New York, ad-
dressed a sociological seminar at
the Institute of Jewish Affairs
here. He said the crucial issue was
how to give more opportunities to
underprivileged students without
reducing the opportunities avail-
able to the rest or lowering educa-
tional standards.
Prof. Maslow denounced racial
criteria in the selection of students
and faculty and said he was op-
posed to black dormitories, black
departments and black professors
for black students which would
"undermine the achievements of a
quarter century struggle in which
Jews played an important part."
Maslow said the demands of some
militant American students were
"suicidal" and "non-negotiable."

WHAT ARE BELTED TIRES ...
AND DO YOU NEED THEM?

The family of belted tires consists of two types: A) the
Bias (criss-cross) ply with a belt; B) the Radial Ply (ply
structure radiating out from the center of the tire) with
a belt. In both cases the belt runs all the way around the
tire, the width of the tread. This tends to brace the tread
by adding a distortion-free "foundation" to the tread,
forcing the tire to roll "rounder" (and hence, more effici-
ently,) roll longer for better mileage, stop quicker, and
respond faster.

Both tires retain the elastic performance of the 2-ply
sidewall, yet possess a puncture resistant 4-ply tread area.

So, if you spend 50% or more of your time on high speed
roads, the slight extra cost can be justified by the in-
creased mileage, handling and safety.

When you think of belted tires, think of the company

who invented the idea in 1914. DUNLOP!
