force as of Jan. 1.
The listing was compiled by the
treaty affairs staff in the State
Department and covers those trea-
ties with foreign nations which
have not expired or been super-
seded.

NEW YORK—Columbia Univer-j
sity and the Hebrew University of
Jerusalem will offer a joint pro-
gram in Hebrew and Jewish stu-
dies June 30- Aug. 8.
The six-week program, consist-
ing of eight course offerings, will
be part of the 1969 summer session
at Columbia. A summer of study
at the Hebrew University is plan-
ned for next year.
Thirty public school teachers
from junior and senior high
schools will participate in the
program.
Two faculty members of the He-
brew University will teach at
Columbia this summer: Zvi Werb-
lowsky of the department of reli-
gions and current dean of the
faculty of humanities, and Jacob
Landau of the department of poli-
tical science. They will be joined
by two members of the Columbia
faculty—Isaac Barzilay, professor
of Hebrew language and litera-
ture, and Moshe Held, associate
professor of Semitic languages
and cultures.
The program is offered through
the Center of Israel and Jewish
' Studies, established at Columbia
in 1950 to coordinate a program of
I instruction and research in these
! areas. Gerson D. Cohen, professor

of the center.

Israel Will Discontinue
24 State Medals June 30

NEW YORK—Twenty-four select-
ed state of Israel medals will be

discontinued June 30, according to
an announcement made by Joseph
Milo, assistant trade commission-
er of the government of Israel.
These medals were minted be-
tween 1959 and 1964, to honor epic
moments and memorable events.
They range from the celebration
of Tel Aviv's 50th anniversary to 1
the first International Harp Con-
test, or The Pentecostal World
Conference held in Jerusalem in
1960. They commemorate both na-
tional and international events.
"Due to the very limited quan-
tities available, only two complete
sets or two of each medals per
order will be allowed," said Milo.
