Socialites Will Salute
New Officers Sunday

Detroit Socialites will install of-
ficers at a dinner-dance 6:30 p.m.
Sunday at the Northwood Inn.
Dancing, to the music of George
Grossett and his orchestra, will
begin at 9.
Rose Altman will be inducted as
president. Other officers include
Meyer Green and Doris Katz, vice
presidents; Jack Sherer, treasurer;
and Bertha Feinberg, Myna Moss,
Kay Genser and Ann Rubenfaer,
secretaries.
Also to be installed are board
of director members Ann Brown,
Goldie Ely, Harry Glassman,
Belle Sorokin, Bill Sorokin, Peter
Steffin, Gertrude Steingold, Molly
Stern, Sarah Stern and Hilda
Wister.

Shomrey Emunah Women Prepare Dedication

The Sisterhood of Shomrey Emunah has made final plans for the
celebrations surrounding their donation of a Tora to the congregation,
3 p.m. Sunray. A parade will precede the dedication ceremony. Sis-
terhood planners are (from left) seated, Mesdames Faye Bovitx;
Evelyn Foster; Esther Pollock, secretary; Fannie Laufer, president;
Brachah Zachariash; Sarah Simon, vice president; and Zelda Miller,
treasurer; second row, Mesdames Bertha Yaker, Esther Sachs, Rae
Urnovitz, Edith Weiss, Hannah Ungar, Sarah Greenspan; and third
row, Mesdames Ruth Larky, Dora Steinberg, Leah Rosenberg and
Simon Fishman. Leo Laufer bolds the Tora to be presented. The
sisterhood will host a dinner prior to the presentation in honor of
the Norman Cottlers, who are presenting a Tora to the synagogue.
Cantor Hyman Adler and Max Sosin will participate. Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Levine are chairmen.

In a candlelight ceremony at
Temple Israel Saturday, Ronna
Gene Berke. daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Herman Berke of Riverview
Dr.. Beverly Hills, became the
bride of Dr. Stuart Jay Kessler,
son of Dr. and Mrs. Max Kessler
of Shaker Heights.
The bridal gown was fashion-
ed of French net over taffeta.
Appliques of daisies were scat-
tered from the jewel neckline
down the front and around the
bottom of the gown. It also fea-
tured French knots trimming the
neckline and Empire waistline
with borders of tiny petals.
Sue Berke was her sister's maid
of honor. Regina Blonstein, Susan
Hersh, Pamela Firestone and Mar-
cia Kessler served as bridesmaids.
Allen Sherrow was best man and
ushers included Dr. Theodore Gol-
den, Melvin Berent, Dr. Herbert
Asch and Mark Firestone.
Following a Montreal honeymoon,
the newlyweds will reside in De-
troit.
