For his creative contribution to
the field of social welfare, HARRY
L. LURIE, former executive direc-
tor of the Council of Jewish Fed-
erations and Welfare Funds, was
honored by the National Conference
of Social Welfare with its Distin-
guished Service Award on the oc-
casion of its 69th annual forum in
New York. The award was given
to Lurie for his leadership in help-
ing the field of social work to
"come of age." The award paid
special tribute also to his contrib-
ution .to. literature in social wel-
fare throughout the last half cen-
tury.
