range recently, Al Mayer was ap-
proached by two women, and turn-
ing to one of them who he had
seen before he asked if she was
intending to learn to play golf . . .

yesterday."

ecutive director of Temple Israel
. . . Remember back in 1951, as
city editor of The Jewish News,
when you made a routine call to
Bonds for Israel in the David Stott
Bldg.? . . . You were taken slight-
ly aback after accidentally dialing
the wrong number and the voice
on the other end answered Singer
Sewing Center . .. You were call-
ing Ed Singer, then Detroit direc
tor of the Israel Bond office!

DANIEL SCHWARTZ, son of
Marilyn and David Schwartz, be-
came the last of their four sons to
be Bar Mitzvaed recently . . . and
did his parents proud at Temple
Emanu-El in Oak Park . . . The
afternoon reception that followed
for more than 200 at Tam O'Shan-
ter was beautiful ... with Frankie
Paul doing an excellent job on the
orchestral end and Tam's surround-
ings conducive to very pleasant
enjoyment . Eldest son of Mari-
lyn and Dave, Arthur, gave a toast
to his young brother and remark-
ed, "We saved the best for last!"

bor's new baby boy last week, and
he seemed especially intrigued by
the infants hairless condition . . .
"Where'd you say he came from?
he asked, and was told from Hea-
ven . "Well," marveled little
Ronnie, "they sure give close hair-
cuts in Heaven, don't they."

Morris and Sylvia Staub hired a
maid for the evening ... She had
just left the dining room with a
tray heaped with dishes when
there was a loud clattering crash
. . . Sylvia went into the kitchen
anxiously and asked what she was
doing . , . "Nothing, ma'm," re-
plied the maid faintly. "It's done."
