Local Attorney
Lawrence I. Levi. a prominent
attorney with
the firm of Marx,
Thill and Wiseman in the
1st National Building, died Tues-
day at age 63.
Mr. Levi, 19425 Argyle Crescent,
was a past president of the Palmer
Woods Association and a present
member of the board. He was on
the board of directors of Detroit
Men's Chapter of ORT and former
board member of Temple Beth El,
Franklin Hills Country Club and
F. L. Jacobs Co., Detroit manu-
facturer of auto parts.
Levi,
A native of Cincinnati, Mr.
Levi was a Phi Beta Kappa grad-
uate of the University of Cincin-
nati in 1928, and its law school
in 1931. He was a member of the
honorary Order of the Coif.
Mr. Levi came to Detroit in 1933
as co-attorney for receivership of
the 1st National Bank of Detroit,
which after reorganization became
the National Bank of Detroit. He
was a trustee of the Robert S.
Marx Testamentary Trust.
Surviving are his wife, Rose; a
son, Robert; a daughter, Mrs.
Mark (Lois) Shaevsky; a brother,
Edwin, of Dayton; and one grand-
child.

Beatrice Schwartz
Beatrice A. Schwartz, a board
member of Project Hope, died
Tuesday at age 55.
Mrs. Schwartz, 19538 Roslyn, was
a past vice president of the Detroit
Section of the United Nations As-
sociation and a past board mem-
ber of both the National Council of
Jewish Women and the Jewish
Community Council. She also be-
longed to Temple Beth El. Born
in Saskatoon, Sask., Mrs. Schwartz
was a Detroit resident for 52 years.
Surviving are her husband, • Dr.
Oscar D.; a daughter, Mrs. Jeoff-
rey (Ellen) Stross of Ann Arbor;
and two brothers, Herbert and
Bertram Abrams.
