More than 300 mental patients
at the Battle Creek Veterans
Administration Hospital were
treated to a picnic lunch recently
by the Department of Michigan
Jewish War Veterans and its
Ladies Auxiliary. Volunteers from
Michigan's 12 posts and auxili-
aries joined chairman Thomas
Tannis and Mrs. Sidney Cohen
for the annual event. Here, Tan-
nis (left) presents fishing equip-
ment to the hospital patients on
behalf of the Michigan Depart-
ment. Entertainment was pro-
vided by six volunteers from the
Berkley High School Madrigal
Choir.

Walter Fische], presidents; Sam
Wilson and Esther Bouchard, vice
presidents; Henrietta Barnett and

The METROPOLITAN OPERA
OF NEW YORK again will visit
Detroit, presenting seven operas,
May 26-31, with a Saturday mati-
nee on the latter date, at Masonic
Temple auditorium. The opening
night benefit will assist the Detroit
Symphony' Orchestra, Inc., and the
Founders Society of the Detroit
Institute of Arts. Among the operas
to be presented are "Rigoletto,"
"Der Rosenkavalier," "U Trays-
tore," "Faust" and "La Boheme "
