He graduated with honors from the Kadoorie Agricultural School in lower Galilee and short- ly thereafter enlisted in the Pal- Rabbi Sperka's Book 'Proverbs to Live By' Transcribed for Blind 1 SPEED READING Rabbi Joshua Sperka, whose "'Proverbs to Live By" categor- izes the Book of Proverbs and translates anew the entire book in the traditional arrangement, has seen his work transcribed into Braille by Mrs. Louis E. Barden (above) of the Tri- County Braille Volunteers. The transcription, in three volumes, will enable the blind to read and study the Proverbs in the mod- ern idiom, according to Mrs. Louis Berry, president of the 14i-County Braille Volunteers. It will be sent to the Jewish Braille Institute in New York for distribution to the blind. Rock Oratorio Given Ovation at Temple NEW YORK (JTA) — An over- flow crowd of 1,500 worshipers attending services Friday night at Reform Temple Israel of New York heard a rock oratorio "Pray- ers for Friday Night," a mixture of classical strains and gentle rock beat - Rabbi Martin Zion introduced the oratorio as • the "now" music. For the occasion both he and Can- tor Jonas Javna dispensed with their robes and wore tuxedos. A choir sang the "Borchu" prayer to the accompaniment of a drum, two guitars, piano and String bass.
