BOSTON (JTA) — The growing
frequency of drug abuse among
adolescents and young adults was
one of the main topics discussed at
a meeting between 30 juvenile pro-
bation officers of the Boston met-
ropolitan area and representatives
of the Jewish Big Brother Associ-
ation and the Jewish Family and
Children's Service The primary
purpose of the meeting was an ex-
change of ideas on how the JBBA
could increase its long-standing
services to the juvenile courts, ac-I
cording to Arthur Zich, JBBA
president.

The first session will deal with
the drug problem in Southfield and
surrounding areas, the drug prob-
lem in relation to the school sys-
tem and the role of the law en-
forcement agencies in curbing this
problem.
Speakers will be Special Agent
0. W. Johnson of the U.S. De-
partment of Justice, Bureau of
Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs
an officer of the juvenile divi-
sion, Southfield Police Depart-
ment; and Richard Leland, assis-
tant principal, Southfield-Lathrup
High School.
The second session May 12 will
concern itself with the usage of
drugs, their effects both physical-
ly and medically, the importance
of environment and the moral is-
sues of drug usage. Dr. Edward
Domina, who will speak on the
pharmacology of drugs, is profes-
sor of pharmacology at the Univ-
ersity of Michigan and head of the
pharmacology lab at Lafayette
Clinic. Dr. Steven Myers who will
speak on the clinical and environ-
mental effects of drugs, is a staff
psychiatrist at the Lafayette Clinic
I and one of the few men to have
made a successful study of in-'
dividuals under the influence of
marijuana.
Rabbi Irwin Groner will discuss
the moral issues of narcotic usage.
