Co-Op American-Israeli Community
to Be Discussed at Center Meeting

A cooperative business and resi-•
dential community of Americans
and Israelis being established in
Israel will be explained at a meet-
ing 2 p.m. April 27 at the Jewish
Center.

Hamagshimim. will be discussed
by one of its leaders, Dr. Stuart
Oppenheimer of Baltimore. at the
meeting of the Detroit Association
of Americans and Canadians for
Aliya (AACA).

in a Garin project will work in
their respective fields outside the
community. Based on an experi-
mental cooperative econom y.
Hamagshimim will operate for at
least three years under a system
in which salaries of members will
be pooled and redistributed accord-
ing to family needs.

Residences will consist of in-
dividual. privately-owned homes.
to be maintained and furnished by
the owner. The homes, designed
by Adam Mazor. Israeli architect.
will be purchased through long-
term mortgages from government
and private agencies on the favor-
able terms provided for new im-
migrants.

The garin will contain a synago-
gue. stores. nursery. infirmary,
sports field, swimming pool and
recreation hall.

Tel Aviv Gets New Hotel
to Meet Tourist Boom

TEL AVIV (JTA) — Tel Aviv.
Israel's largest city. will double its
tourist capacity within a few
years. according to Moshe Kol.
minister of tourism and develop-
ment. Kol spoke at the corner-,
stone-laying ceremonies for a new
308-room seaside hotel under con- .
struction by Jewish investors in
West Germany. The new hotel will
be the city's third largest, follow-
ing the Hilton and Sheraton hotels.
Kol said that some 4.000 new
hotel rooms were presently under
construction or in the advanced
planning stages in Tel Aviv.
