Members who have been af-
filiated with the synagogue for
40 years or more were honored
at the meeting with specially
engraved certificates. The pres-
entations were made by Rabbi
Irwin Groner, who gave the
major address of the evening.
The retiring president, Samuel
Kovan, was presented with a
tails. Rabbi Gerald Teller gave
the invocation.

Cantor Barkin is familiar to
Shaarey Zedek members, having
appeared in a number of concerts
in the Detroit area in recent years,
including Shaarey Zedek's own
"Israel Reborn" musical work last
May. Cantor Barkin's concert ap-
pearances have taken him through.

European countries. He has per-
formed with many major sym-
phony orchestras.
Cantor Barkin studied at the
Toronto Conservatory and East-
man School of Music.
