A committee of representatives of LZO, Farband, Pioneer Women
and the Landsmanshaften groups, including Bereznitzer Aid Society,
Berdichev-Keshenev Society, Odessa Progressive Aid Society, Pinsker
Progressive Aid Society and the Chaim Weizmann Society, has set a
goal of $350,000 for the 1969 Detroit Labor Zionist Movement-Lands-
manshaften Israel Bond campaign, to be climaxed by the Israel 21st
anniversary celebration on May 13, honoring Mrs. Adele Mondry for
her leadership in the Labor Zionist movement and for her lifelong
support of Israel and the Israel Bond cause. Planning the campaign

dition in Labor Zionist-landsman-
shaften circles. Mrs. Mondry is the

New Passbook Account

A new type of passbook savings
account that pays 5 per cent an-
nually, compounded quarterly, was
announced at American Savings
Association by President Alfred L.
Deutsch.
The "American-90” passbook ac-
count which will become available
Tuesday, requires $2,500 initial
deposit and a 90-day minimum in-
vestment. Compounded and pay-
able quarterly, the "American-90"
has an effective rate of 5.1 per
cent annually.
Three accounts now will be avail-
able at American Savings. Besides
the new "American-90" account,
there will be regular passbook ac-
counts and Bonus Savings Certifi-
cates in amount of $5,000 and

Dinner Will Honor
Former Presidents

Cong. Beth Shalom will honor its

past presidents at a presidential
toast to Israel dinner dance 7 p.m.
April 20 in the Beth Shalom social
hall, it was announced by Presi-

dent Albert Rosenblum.
Joey Adams will head the pro-
gram of entertainment on behalf
of Israel Bonds.

The past presidents to be hon-
ored include Jack Bodzin, Max
Dobrowitsky, Edward Gordon,
Harry Granader, Oscar Kanat,
Frank Nelson, Seymour Tarnoff
and Robert White.
The sisterhood, men's club and
the Mr. and Mrs. Club are actively
participating in the dinner dance.
The affair also will mark Israel's
21st year of statehood. Israel will
observe Yom Haatzmaut, Inde-
pendence Day, April 23.
Rabbi Mordecai Halpern will
give the tribute to the past presi-
dents.
