THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

Prortantation

by the Rabbis of Greater Detroit

As we gather with our loved ones for Passover, our hearts turn to the needs of our brethren
around the world.
The Jews in Morocco, Tunisia, Iraq and behind the. Iron Curtain are feeling the twin sting of
privation and' personal indignity.
The people of Israel are carrying a heavy responsibility for defense and security in their fight
for survival. They look to us for help with the health, welfare, educational and immigration services
so essential to their way of life.
In Detroit our communal services, from which we all benefit, need to be maintained. Jewish life
in America must be kept strong and secure.
As we open our doors for the prophet Elijah, let us also open our hearts to our fellow Jews every-
where.
We serve world Jewry and ourselves through our support of the 1969 Allied Jewish Campaign—
Israel Emergency Fund, our instrument for carrying on the struggle fOr freedom from oppression and
for a better Jewish life.
We, the Rabbis of the Congregational Council urge you to remember the Mitzvah of giving and
make your pledge to this year's Allied Jewish Campaign—Israel Emergency Fund a generous one.
