international tensions."
Eban spoke at a press confer-

SATURDAY & SUNDAY

By BEN GALLOB

(Copyilght 1969, JTA Inc.)

The Jewish Family and Chil-
dren's Service of Detroit reported
this week it had relocated 26 Jew-
ish families, mainly elderly Jews
or couples, from the 12th St.-Dex-
ter area to more suitable areas of
residence during the past 10
months.
Arnold Faudman, president of
the agency, said that the program
was carried out with a grant of
$25,000 for the initial year of the
program. The grant was made by
the United Jewish Charities Board
for the Jewish Community Foun-
dation. He said most of the re-
located JeWs were receiving old
age assistance and living on So-
cial Security Funds. They needed
subsidy to live in the new loca-
tions. The agency also paid some
moving and supplemental ex-
penses in the relocations.
Joseph Garson, chairman of
the agency's housing relocation
committee, said that a request
had been made to the Jewish
' Community Foundation for
funds to continue the rental sub-
sidies for the 26 relocated fam-
ilies.
Samuel Lerner, director of the
JFCS, an affiliate of the Jewish
Welfare Federation of Detroit,
said that the agency had a list of
another 50 Jewish families who
had asked the agency for help to
relocate and that 37 of those fam-
ilies would need rent subsidies.
He added that the Wayne
County department of social serv-
ices had between 20 and 30 Jewish
clients, and there are many aged
Jews who want to move from the
riot area but who have not as yet
made direct application to the
JFCS.
