helm Kleemann, a leader of ORT

(Organization for Rehabilitation

early 1920s and former head of the
Jewish community of Berlin, died
March 10 at age 99.
Dr. Kleeman was born in Forch-
heim, Germany, and was educated
in Berlin. He became director and
later the president of the Dread-
• tier Bank of Germany and was an
active member of the Central
Committee of German Jewry. In
1927, he became president of the
Jewish Community of Berlin. He
came to the U.S. in 1934 and
presented one of the earliest re-
ports on conditions of Jews under
Hitler to leaders of American
Jewry. Ile was the first president
of ORT in Germany in 1924. In
1941 he was a charter member
