In a statement, "No Mideast Ma-
quis," Michel Pierre d'Orleans of
New York wrote as follows in the
New York Times:
As one of the principal members
of the French resistance ag}inst
the Nazis, I am shocked to Clear
the Arabs compare our movements
to their terrorist acts against un-
armed civilians.
First, France and the rest of the
European countries invaded by
Nazi Germany never intended to
liquidate Germany as the Arabs in.
tend to liquidate Israel. We fought
like men against the German
army. We never murdered children
and women. We never attacked
planes carrying innocent passen-
gers. Theirs is not a resistance
movement. It is cowardice.
The Arabs are always complain.
ing about the refugees. During the
last 20 years 4,500,000 European
people were forced out of the Arab
countries. Some 2,200,000 Italians
left Libya and Egypt. And 1,700,-
000 French left Algeria, Tunisia
and Morocco. Over 700,000 Jews
left Iraq, Yemen, Egypt, Libya
and the other Arab countries.
Four and a half million Jews who
had lived in these countries for
countless generations left every-
thing behind. The Arabs took
everything. The people left only
with the clothes on their backs.
The Arabs had an opportunity to
place the 700,000 Arab refugees
from Palestine in the homes of the
European people who fled the Arab
countries. Instead the refugees
were put in camps that have cost
millions of dollars contributed by
the nations of the world. This was
the most brutal thing the Arabs
did against their own people.
Palestine was never an Arab
countrrIlIt never had an Arab gov-
ernment. Palestine had' been occu-
pied, since the time of Caesar, by
Greeks, Romans, English and other
nations. The only legal government
in Palestine was the Jewish gov-
ernment over 2,000 years ago.
The Western world has never
understood how the Arab countries,
with 85 per cent of its people illi-
terate, millions without jobs, dis-
ease and sickness rampant, could
spend billions of dollars on am-
munition to liquidate a little coun-
try like Israel; instead of using the
money to build schools, hospitals,
homes and industry for their own
people.

JTA Board Elects
3 New Members
(Direct JTA Teletype Wire
to The Jewish News)
NEW YORK — Election of three
new members of the board of di-
rectors of the Jewish Telegraphic
Agency was announced Wednesday
by Robert H. Arnow, president.
They are Julius Berman of New
York, vice president of the Nation-
al Jewish Commission on Law and
Public Affairs; Albert M. Bershad
of Philadelphia, member of the
executive board of the Federation
of Jewish Agencies of Greater
Philadelphia: and Gottleib Ham-
mer of New York, executive vice
chairman of the United Israel Ap-
peal. Their election brings the
JTA board membership up to 41.
Physicians Eye Israel
TEL AVIV (ZINS) — Some 200
Jewish physicians in South Africa
have expressed a desire to go to
Israel; many would like to settle
there.
Qualified sources have disclosed
that during the last several months
the Israel Medical Association has
been receiving numerous requests
for information from Canadian,
Australian and American Jewish
doctors regarding the possibility of
settling in Israel and practicing
their professions. A special com-
mittee has been appointed to han-
dle these requests.
Every physician who will come
to Israel for a few months will be
given the opportunity to practice
his profession and draw his own
conclusions as to whether he will
be able to settle in the-country.
