chief investigator for the prosecut-
ing attorney's office . . . Remem-
ber back in 1956 when you were
an assistant prosecutor and folks
who saw you riding around in a
low-slung Corvette thought you had
gone hot-rod happy? . . . You were
without a car for the day and bor-
rowed the sleek custom-built job
from Frank Ade11 . . . Some kids
pulled alongside and wanted to
race . . . You told them they could
start first, and took out your badge
. . . The young fellows in the other
car took off , . .-•and stayed at the

MUSICAL THIS YEAR put on
last week by the Clinton Junior
High Drama Club in Oak Park
High's auditorium, was the dif-
ficult "Pirates of Penzance" . . .
and the kids did a nice job ... The
entire cast of almost 100 compris-
ed some extremely talented young
folks . . . particularly Barbara
Muller, daughter of Elaine and
Harry Muller, who took the femin-
ine lead and sang her operatic
solos with the style, grace and
poise of a real pro . . . Barbara
has chosen the stage for a career
and has her sights aimed at Broad-
way stardom . . . With the stage
name of Barbara Paul, she isn't
too far away already!

IN ITS MANY charitable and
philanthropic workings that include
cystic fibrosis and child welfare
projects, Knights of Pythias, De-
troit 55, will soon embark on a
clothing drive to help less fortunate
families.

TV ACTOR-ANNOUNCER Rube
Weiss insists that television has
affected everything . . . A friend
of Rube took some clothes to a
laundromat, opened the round glass
door, inserted his laundry, closed
the door, inserted a coin, then sat
down to wait for results . . . Sud-
denly an unsteady gentleman stag-
gered in, swayed slightly, hic-
coughed, and sat down in front of
the whirling machine . . . The
drunk stared at the glass door for
quite a while . . . "Shay, that ain't
a bad program," be commented.
"But who is that poor devil
drownin' in, there?"
