NONE OF THE help at Raleigh
House with whom he had been in
close contact for years, knew Bill
Kaufman was in the hospital . . .
He didn't know this and thought it
strange not receiving any calls or
cards from them . . . After getting
out, Bill went to the Raleigh House
and when asked where he'd been,
mentioned to just a few that he
was in the hospital . . . But just a
fecv were enough . . • Last week,
Bill went across the street from
his Kaufman's Restaurant Supply
to Carl's for lunch and was greet-
ed with a big surprise . . . The
Raleigh House help had all taken
time out to shower the place with
flowers and greet Bill in a touch-
ing display of "You're a great
guy, Bill Kaufman!"
DOUGLAS LIEBERMAN, 22-
year-old son of Dr. Barnard L. and
Mary Lieberman, is a young man
of unlimited talents that border on
sheer genius .. While a pre-med
student at Columbia University, he
was the editor for two years of the
Pre-Med Journal and had a book
published by McGraw-Hill titled
"Pre-Med: The Foundation of a
Medical Career" and then wrote
the complete story and music for a
full-length musical! . . . Last sum-
mer, Doug was assistant director
at the Kingswood-Cranbrook 6-
week program, "Adventures In
Creativity" which he'll do again
this year . . Tonight and Satur-
day evening, he'll direct "J.B." by
Archibald MacLeish, at the Kings-
wood School in Bloomfield, using
the original script — not the one
rewritten for Broadway . . . He is
on the staff at Kingswood, teach-
ing American History, English
and Comparative Arts . . . and
ready now to embark on a journal-
ism career . . . Oh, yes, Doug
studied music too, for 12 years!
INFANTS SERVICE GROUP
Dinner-Dance & Show affair year
after year continually holds sway
as the top shindig of its type in
the community . .. This year, the
Cherub Ball Dinner-Dance, March
23, at Latin Quarter, will prob-
ably be another sellout . • . and as
always every dollar raised will be
used in the magnificent work by
the ISG gals in helping unfortunate
youngsters . . . Barbara Ginsburg
is president of ISG and its
quite a thrill to dine, dance and see
a good show in the knowledge that
the money you spent is helping a
kiddie somewhere.
SURPRISE 50th BIRTHDAY
gathering for Al Stutz was given
by wife Kerry for ' almost 45 peo-
ple . . . Al's gift from Kerry was
a pair of antique gold cufflinks .. .
Two weeks previously, he had
given her a pin, of the same anti-
que gold and style.
35 YEARS AGO, a group of
dedicated women met to help
needy sick people . . . and so the
Young Women's formed Cholem Or-
ganization was formed . . . The
recipients of their aid are never
made public and kept in strict con-
fidence . . Minnie Berman is
president of this fine group hold-
ing its annual fund raising donor
luncheon March 17, at Raleigh
House.
HEARD AT GLEN OAKS Golf
and Country Club on opening day
last week . . . "Wowie! I've never
played so badly before." . . .
"Oh!" said his caddie. "You have
played before, then!"
