RAMAT HAGOLAN (ZINS) — A plan to transform the Golan Heights into an Israeli Texas with huge cattle-breeding ranches is now being prepared by the mini- stry of agriculture together with the colonization department of the Jewish Agency. The plan envisages the fencing off of a million dunams (250,000 acres) of grazing land for cattle, as well as the development of a hundred thousand dunams (25,000 acres) of land for agricultural pur- poses. New farming settlements will be established in the region, and some of the farms will serve as tourist attraction centers.
