Susan Facktor Engaged Seminary Awards Abraham Borman
to Leslie Weingarden Plaque for Service to Judaism

MISS SUSAN FACKTOR
Mr. and Mrs. Max Facktor of
Kalamazoo announce the engage-
ment of their daughter Susan
Esther to Leslie Alan Weingarden,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wein-
garden of Camden Sq., Southfield.
Both the prospective bride and
bridegroom are seniors at Michi-
gan State University.
A December wedding is being
planned.

Labor Zionists to Fete
Purim at 'Adloyada'

The annual Purim "adloyada"
celebration of the Labor Zionist af-
filiates—Poale Zion, Pioneer Worn-
end Farband—will take place 8:30
p.m. March 1 in the Labor Zionist
Institute, it was announced by
Morris Lieberman, chairman of
the administrative committee of
the Labor Zionist movement of
Detroit.
The Israel Ensemble will pro-
vide song and dance. The tradi-
tional and modern version of the
Megila will be read and there will
be skits and pantomine, free hats,
masks and graggers, prizes galore
and Purim dishes.
The public is invited for a small
fee. For reservations, call the in-

Scopus Concert Film
to Be Available to Public

"A Journey to Jerusalem," the
documentary color film starring
Leonard Bernstein and violinist
Isaac Stern, will be available in
16 mm April 1.

"A Journey to Jerusalem" was
filmed in Israel a few weeks after
the Six-Day War and records the
events and activities leading up to
the historic concert conducted by
Bernstein atop Mt. Scopus that
commemorated the reunification of
Jerusalem. The film, a Filmways
presentation distributed by Sigma
HI, was produced and directed by
Michael Mindlin Jr. )

Judge Gubow to Address
Criterion's Open House

Criterion Club for single adults
will hold an open house 8 a.m.
Tuesday at the community hall of
the Commonwealth Branch Bank,
Seven Mile Rd. at Mark Twain.
Federal Judge Lawrence Gubow,
president of the Jewish Commun-
ity Council, will be the featured
speaker.

Zion branches in Detroit elected
Mrs. Gerald Goldberg to head an
organizational campaign, in light
of the events in Israel, which re-
quire assistance "on a permanent
basis, not only in time of crisis."

munity Service Award by the Jew-
ish Theological
Seminary of
America, it was
announced by Dr.
Louis Finkelstein,
chancellor of the
seminary.

will be made Thursday at the sem-
inary's 10th annual convocation
dinner at the Diplomat Hotel, Holly-
wood, Fla. U.S. Senators Edward
W. Brooke and Birch E. Bayh will
be principal speakers.
Borman has been closely asso-
ciated with the seminary as a

member of its board of overseers
and has been honored by presenta-
tion of its Louis Marshall Memorial
Medal. He is a member of the
executive board of Cong. Shaarey
Zedek.
He has long been active in char-
itable, educational and cultural
projects, both locally and nation-
ally.
