Local Students to Attend
Weekend Parley in Ohio

Rabbi Melvin Sachs, adviser to
the Student Council of the United
Hebrew High School, announces
that 18 students will attend the Na-
tional Conference of Synagogue
Youth Central Fast Regional Shab-
baton this weekend at the Taylor
Road Synagogue, Cleveland.
In addition, 26 teens from Cong-
Bnai David will attend, it was an-
nounced by Rabbi Aaron Brander,
who will accompany them along
with Shannon Adler and Herschel
Gardin, youth advisers.
This annual event, sponsored by
the youth bureau of Yeshiva Uni-
versity, will bring together about
250 teen-agers from 25 communi-
ties.
The theme of the conference "Is-
rael—Land of Promise," will com-
bine educational, religious, social
and recreational elements and will
feature panels on current Jewish
issues, guest personalities and
workshops in leadership skills, pro-
graming, song and dance.
UHS students who will participate
include Naomi Cutler, Dennis Eisen-
berg, Sue Goldberg, Shall Harris,
Hartley Harrison, Mike Kramer,
Sanford Krasner, Aaron Martin,
Mike Silberschein, Gloria Silver,
Danny Simkovitz, Jack Simkovitz,
Rona Snow, Ronald Spinner, How-
ard Storchan, Marcy Storchan, Sue
Sugarman and Alisa Torgow.
The Bnai David delegation con-
sists of Bruce Aaron, Cary Adel-
man, Moe Adler, Usher Adler,

LONDON—"Soviet Jewry Week,"
which ended in Britain. , . Monday,
"effectively exposed the plight of
Soviet Jews on a natiOnal,level,"
a spokesman for the UniverSities
Committee for Soviet Jewry, said
here.
The committee, which organized
the event - to protest the cultural
and religious represSion of Jgsvp in
the USSR, said that a number of
events took place on various Brit-
ish campuses, including' an open
meeting of the Cambridge 'Union.
A public meeting was scheduled to
be held here Feb: 25. One of the
speakers will be Elie Wiesel,
