GARY BERTINI

Acclaimed by critics, the Israel
Chamber Orchestra is making its
first U.S. tour.
The orchestra was founded in
1965 by its musical director, Gary
Bertini, following strenuous audi-
tions of the country's best young
musicians. During the next 12
months, the orchestra's members!
developed a unity as an ensemble
and the high standards of per-
formance which have become its
trademarks. Of those selected.
some had finished their training
abroad, or at the Samuel Rubin
Academy of Music in Tel Aviv.
Others w e r e newcomers who
brought with them vast musical
experience from the capitals of
Europe.
In 1966, the Israel Chamber
Orchestra presented its first con-
certs throughout Israel.

Jewish Social Singles (25-40) will
present "Cupid's Capers" 8:30 p.m.
