Conceding that there are shadows —caused by intermarriage, conver- sion, alienation without conversion, indifference—Dr. Gordis never the- less saw lights on the horizon. Based on his experiences in univer- sities—he is presently a lecturer on the faculty of Temple University in Philadelphia and is on the faculty of the Jewish Theological Seminary —Rabbi Gordis said new concern is evidenced and greater interest shown in Jewish needs. He said "there is a bourgeoning of interest in Jewish spiritual values among college youth." Participants in the program Wednesday included Maxwell Sat- rin, who presided; Rabbi Gerald Groner, a student of Dr. Gordis at the Jewish Theological Seminary, who introduced the speaker, and Rabbi Irwin Groner, who conducted a question-answer period.
