THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Friday, January 31, 1969-11 "ALL I WOULD ASK IS THAT YOU FEEL JEWISH." —Moshe Dayan We went this month to the Western Wall in Jeru- salem and felt 5700 years of Jewish history. We stood on the bank of the Suez Canal and felt the pressure of the enemy on the land of Israel. We gazed on the heights of Golan and the soft new green carpet of wheat over the ground where once there was the ominous glint of steel. We shared our hearts with the people of the valley of Bet Shean and Kfar Ruppin where the children have slept each night in the darkness of underground bunkers since June 1967. We cried and laughed with the immigrants as they arrived to begin a new life in Israel and sensed the exhilaration they felt in coming home. We talked with old people who are not forgotten and are being cared for in dignity by a be- leaguered Israel. We saw the face of courage-of sadness-of pride- of determination. We will not stand by silently-inactive-while Israel's people suffer. We pledge ourselves-with your help-to see that the 1969 Detroit Allied Jewish Campaign- Israel Emergency Fund raises the greatest amount in its history to help maintain the health, education and welfare programs-as our expres- sion of partnership in Israel's crucial hours. We plead with you to make your gift the largest you have ever given . . . and "FEEL JEWISH." A. Arnold Agree Samuel Frankel Herbert P. Sillman Mrs. Theodore H. Baruch Daniel M.
