Hillel's New Home Keeps

a Favorite Accessory

Editor, The Jewish News:
In the Dec. 13 Jewish News,
there was an article concerning the
imminent move of the Wayne State
Hillel to its new headquarters . .
Something was not mentioned that
is very significant to Hillel.
I am speaking of the reception
area, not just because it will have
nice, new furniture, but because
of the person sitting behind the re-
ceptionist's desk. This person is
what makes the reception area so
comfortable and warm. Mrs. Ber-
nice Konkow's smile is what
makes one feel welcome upon en
tering the Hillel area. She is the
best secretary a Hillel director
could hope to have, and Hillelites
hope to work with.
THE HILLEL GANG,
Phyllis Waller.

Single Adults Interested
in Social Action Invited to
Join AJCongress Unit

Editor, The Jewish News:
I read with interest the letter
from Lillian Shore in the Jan. 17
issue in which she offers sugges-
tions for promoting single adult
clubs . • .

American Jewish Congress has
always had one or two chapters
composed of single people. Such
chapters tend to come and go as
single people marry, move away,
etc.

I recently invited a group of
singles to my home to discuss our
organization and how it might meet
their intellectual and social inter-
ests. Among those who attended,
the age range was 20-40 and the
sexes were equally represented.
The group has selected a commit-
tee to plan programs and to com-
pile a mailing list of potentially
interested persons.

American Jewish Congress, as an
organia ztion to which Jewish
adults have meaningfully related
for 50 years, can bring single peo-
ple together who are interested in
social issues—and in becoming in-
volved in social action .
Let me invite anyone who wants
