Last Chance for Aliens
to File Address Report
Walter A. Sahli, district director
of the Immigration and Naturaliza-
tion Service at Detroit, reminds
aliens in Michigan that next Fri-
day is the deadline for filing ad-
dress report forms as required
under provisions of the 1952 Immi-
gration and Nationality Act.
The official urged aliens who
have not yet filed their address
reports to do so no later than Jan.
31 to avoid possible penalties.
The law requires that every
alien except those having diplo-
matic status and representatives
of certain international organiza-
tions must file the address report
during January of each year at the
nearest post office or Immigration
and Naturalization Service office.

Eminent Author-Poet Chaim Grade
Histadrut's Lecturer Next Tuesday
Chaim Grade, the noted Yiddish
poet and novelist who holds an
honorary degree of doctor of He-
brew Letters from the Jewish The-
ological Seminary, will be the guest
brew letters from the Jewish The-
ning 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, under
sponsorship of the Detroit Israel
Histadrut Campaign, at the Labor
Zionist Institute.
In presenting Grade, Histadrut
states that it recognizes the out-
standing help which the campaign
is receiving from the Yiddish-
speaking members of this commu-
nity. The lecture is presented in
their honor. Admission is free and
the public is invited.
Grade, who is widely known as
one of the foremost Yiddish lec-
turers, published his first volume of
poetry in 1936. His eighth volume
of poetry, "Man of Fire," earned
him the Harry and Florence Kov-
ner Memorial Award for Yiddish
Poetry. The poems are experiences
and reflections of the destruction of
European Jewry and the profound
emotions involved in relating one-
self forever with those who perish-
ed and are moving expressions on
the destruction of European Jewry.
Grade is also a talented novelist.
His longest and most important
novel "Zemakh Atlas" was serial-
ized in the Jewish Day-Morning
Journal, as were other novels and
stories.
During the war years, Grade
experienced the difficulties of a
refugee in the Soviet Union, then
briefly returned to his birthplace,
Vilna, from which he left for
France in 1946. He came to this
country in 1948 and soon became
known as an excellent lecturer.
In 1968, Grade published a novel
in two-volumes with the title

putting the, finishing touches on
several literary works to be pub-
lished soon. This made it necessary
for him to restrict his lecture tours
to a few engagements.
This event is part of the cam-
paign's cultural activities which,
while they are not strictly fund-
raising meetings, are designed to
call attention to Histadrut and its
varied activities. The staff will be
on hand to receive pledges and
cash which is expected to be turned
in by those actively engaged in
fund-raising for Histadrut.
