review "The Dance of Genghis
Kahn," by Remain Gary, at the
next program of its book review
and breakfast series, 11 a.m. Mon-
day at the temple. A bagel and
lox breakfast will precede at 10

meeting are (from left) Maxwell Jospey, Mrs. I. Jerome Hauser and
Mrs. Bernard Schaenen,

Addressing 120 women, Mrs.
Bernard Schaenen of Dallas, na-
tional, United Jewish Appeal,
women's division chairman, praised
the outstanding work of the wom-
en's division of the Jewish Welfare
Federation of Detroit.
Mrs. Schaenen paid tribute to the
division for its year-round educa-
tional program for women and the
dedication and generosity of wom-
en workers and contributors which
made Detroit's women's campaign
the best in the nation.
Pledges at the luncheon meeting
Jan. 8 at the Great Lakes Club
totaled $467,000 for the 1969 Allied
Jewish Campaign-Israel Emer-
gency Fund. The same people con-
tributed $399,000 to last year's
drive.
Mrs. Schaenen paid special tri-
bute to Mrs. John Hopp who 18
years ago helped Dallas set up a

women's division, and to Mrs.

Harry L. Jones who was national
UJA women's chairman in 1967 and

1968.
Maxwell Jospey, chairman of the
1969 campaign, cited the women's

pre-campaign meeting as the "most
exciting event of the campaign"
because of the influence of the
women in the home.
He read a cable from 23 Detroit-

ers in Israel on an United Jewish
Appeal mission signed by Paul

Zuckerman, mission chairman, and
Hyman Safran, Federation presi-
dent, including "love and encour-

agement to the wives of mission
participants."

Mrs. Max Stollman, campaign
chairman for the women's divi-
sion, added her plea for all-out
support of the "no limit" cam-
paign.

Mrs. I. Jerome Hauser, pre-
campaign chairman, presided at
the meeting, and added her voice
to the plea for support of local
community agencies as well as the
unlimited needs overseas.
