Turover Aid Society Dedicates

Room in Lubavitch-Ruzhiner

Youth Center

The first synagogue built in Spain since the ex-
pulsion of the Jews in 1492, was consecrated in
Madrid in December. Above photo shows Jose Levy,
a leader of the Madrid Jewish community, carrying
the inezuza which was affixed to the synagogue
door. At far left is Theodore D. Feder, associate
director-general of the Joint Distribution Comittee.

SYNAGOGUE

The JDC and the Conference on Jewish Material
Claims Against Germany donated $70,000 towards
construction of the $250,000 synagogue-center. JDC
receives its funds mainly from the campaigns of the
United Jewish Appeal, supported by the Detroit Al-
lied Jewish Campaign.

Astronauts' Display
of Spiritual Feeling

NEW YORK — The New York
Board of Rabbis sent a telegram
to the three astronauts of Apollo
8, Colonel Frank Borman, Major
William A. Anders and Captain
James A. Lovell Jr., citing them
for their profound spiritual qua-
lity and for their reading of the
first chapter of Genesis, in which
they expressed "depth of religious
feeling" and "humility in the
presence of God's majesty and
his wondrous creation."
