of the Immigration and Naturaliza-
tion Service in the state of Michi-
gan, advises that all aliens, as well
as employers, should be cautioned
that the issuance of a Social Secur-
ity account card to an alien is not
evidence of permission from the
Immigration and Naturalization
Service for the alien to work in
the United States.
Only those aliens lawfully admit-
ted to the United States for perma-
nent residence (immigrants) and
those aliens temporarily in the
United States (nonimmigrants) who
have been authorized by the serv-
ice to take employment, may work

Aliens Warned to Get Permission for Jobs

The Jewish War Veterans Auxi-
liary under the chairmanship of
Mrs. Herbert Liner served the USO
all day Christmas Eve.
In addition to providing dinners,
they contributed to the long-dis-
tance phone call fund and provided
eatra gifts for the servicemen.
On Christmas Day, Wednesday,
the Jewish Welfare Board, with
Mrs. I. Irving Bittker serving as
chairman, arranged for the Sister-
hood of Temple Beth El to take
over t h e canteen hospitality.
Christmas dinners, starting at 10
Jun., were served all day. Also in-
chided were gifts and free phone
adh anywhere in continental USA.

The Israel Bond Office, 8522 W.
IlleNichols, will be open Sunday,
from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for the
Convenience of subscribers wishing
pay their 1968 Israel Bond
pledges.
"This is the last Sunday of the
peOr, and Israel needs the cash
now," the announcement states.

THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

Guided by its division chairmen, the Women's Auxiliary of the
Jewish National Fund will tailminate its 39th annual donor cam-
paign with a tea noon Jan. 21 at Temple Israel. The program will
feature Mrs. Morris Adler, guest speaker, recently returned from
Israel. For the musical portion of the program, they will present
singer Marci Lyn Rose. Planning the event are (from left) seated:
Mesdames Irving Raskin, Larry Chanin, Nathan Rosin and Frank
Silverman; second row: Mesdames Albert Posen, Harry Portnoy,
Anton Rosenfeld, William Hlafer, Milton Winston and Sam Warsh;
third row: Mesdames Israel Hardener, Leo Lesser, Jack Grossbart,
Sam Rosenblatt, Norman Adilman and Joseph Newman. The 1969
goal of the JNF Women has been set at $60,000.

Admission to this event is one
filled dime "eye bank" or its equi-
valent of $6 in cash or check, ac-
cording to the chairman of the day,
Mrs. Jack Abramson. Sherry and
cookies will be served prior to the
program.

pop singer and recording artist,
he often writes his own songs
and humor.
The small, cardboard eyebank
is Hadassah's way of treating a
serious malady in Israel: trachoma
One filled eye bank, or $6, will
cure both eyes.
Proceeds from this annual eye
bank affair are used for research,
treatment of existing cases of tra-
choma and eye examination of
10,000 toddlers and school children
annually. Through Hadassah's ef-
forts, trachoma was well controled
until recently. However, since the
1967 war, Israel has had to treat
many Arabs in occupied territories
who suffer from this malady.
