NEW YORK — Sunday evening,
Isaac Stern delivered his first re-
cital in Carnegie Hall since his 0
recent illness. It marked his silver
anniversary on the concert stage.
Stern, now 45, surprised his au-

friend, but until Stern found it in
Hamburg a year ago, it was not
generally known.
