Federation Elects '69 Officers

Detroit Service Group, is a mem-
ber of the executive committee by
virtue of his office, as are Airs.
Joseph H. Jackier, president of
the Women's Division; Irvin g
Rose; chairman of the committee
on capital needs, and Dr. Peter
G. Shifrin, chairman of the health
and -welfare division. Paul Zucker-
man, as president of the United
Jewish Charities, is a member of
the executive committee.
Lewis S. Grossman, new chair-
man of the community relations
division, and George M. Zeltzer,
incoming chairman of the educa-
tion division, also are members of
the executive committee or Feder-
ation, because of their office.
The nominating committee con-
sisted of Paul Broder, chairman.
Irwin Green, Milton J. Miller, Mrs.
Max Stollman and George M.
Stutz.
The nomination of Zuckerman
for UJC president will be pre-
sented to the annual UJC meet-
ing Thursday evening.
Zuckerman has been vice-presi-
dent of United Jewish Charities
and was chairman of the Allied
Jewish Campaign in 1961 and 1962.
In 1967 he headed the first Israel
Emergency Fund in Detroit which
sent more than $6,000,000 overseas
within a three-month period. He is
a national chairman of the United
Jewish Appeal; a director of
United Foundation and Sinai Hos-
pital and a member of the national
board of ORT.
Irwin Green, who has served as
UJC treasurer, has been nominated
for vice-president, and Alfred L.
Deutsch to fill the treasurer's post.
Avrunin serves as secretary.
- Nominated to fill two-year terms
'on the board of directors are; Paul
Handleman, Abe Shiffman and
Richard Sloan.
Renominated as board members
are Milton S. Bosley, Avern Cohn,
Irwin Green and James Wineman.
An annual report of UJC activ-
ities will be given by Tabashnik.
Milton J. Miller, chairman of the
endowment fund committee, will
report on progress in obtaining en-
dowments, trust funds and of
intent during 1967-68.
On the UJC nomination commit-
tee are Judge Levin, chairman, Hy
Safran and Dr. Shifrin.

Foreign Investment Plans
Told at Meeting in Israel
JERUSALEM (JTA) — Foreign
investment projects in Israel were
the main topic of discussion at a
meeting of Israeli and foreign
businessmen and financiers as a
follow-up to the World Economic
Conference last June. Fifteen par-
ticipants from abroad representing
the United States, Britain, Europe
Africa, Asia, the Far East and
Latin America are the regional
chairmen selected at the June
meeting.
A second world economic confer-
ence will be convened in Jerusalem
next May to continue the work.
Zeev Sharef, Israel's finance
minister and minister of commerce
and industry, said investment proj-
ects were receiving government-
approved status at the rate of $43,-
000,000 a month, and the pace was
expected- to increase to $58,000.000
a month by the end of next year.
Victor Carter, regional chairman
of the United States, said a hun-
dred investment projects were "in
the pipeline' in addition to 59 proj-
ects announced since last June's
conference.
– Saul Eisenberg, from Tokyo, re-
ported that Japan has ordered a
complete industrial plant in Israel
valued at $30,000,000.
