THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Friday, October 25, 1968-13 The urgent reason to vote for Hubert Humphrey What are the realities of this election? One Presidential candidate of the three has addressed himself to the future. He's the one who's been ahead of his time all his life. On Arms Con- trol and the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. On Civil Rights. Medicare. The Peace Corps. The Job Corps. One candidate of the three has faced the issues. The others talk about problems. He talks about solutions. He alone has submitted detailed programs to meet the great needs of our na- tion. One candidate made his first campaign decision in the best interest of the American people. Realistically and responsibly, he alone of the three chose a running mate who is qualified to be President. And just one of the three has a record of c'ainmitrnent to human rights. He is tuned in to the plight of people living in besieged environ- ments. In America. In Israel. Significantly, his first honorary degree came from Yeshiva University. Followed-by Hebrew Union College and Brandeis University. The Stephen Wise Award of the American Jewish Congress went to him. Above all else, one man has the special quality called leadership. Where others cry Havoc, he cries Hope. 'We endorse Mr. Humphrey," said the New York Times. (Read their Sunday editorial of October 6.) "This critical era calls for aleader with ideas, enthusiasm, energy and a clear moral commitment ... Hubert Humphrey is such a leader." And so we come to the urgent reason for you to support and vote for Hubert Humphrey. It is this. He is the best man. National Coordinating Committee For Humphrey Chairman, Joseph H.
