Philip Stollman, chairman of the
board of trustees of Bar-Ilan Uni-
versity, announced this week that
Dr. Max Jainmer, president of the
university, whose campus is in
Ramat Gan, Israel, will be the
guest speaker at the annual dinner
of the Detroit Friends of Bar-Han,
at Cobo Hall, Dec. 4.
Joseph H. Jackier has been
named this year's dinner chair-
man. He heads a distinguished
committee of Detroiters who are
cooperating in securing the local
support of the university.
Nax M. Fisher again serves as
honorary chairman of the commit-
tee.

Israelis' Kin Asked to Aid
Heart Disease Study
BOSTON—A total of 2,500 Amer-
icans or Canadians who have
brothers or sisters now living in
Israel soon will receive a letter
from Dr. Ascher J. Segall, asso-
ciate professor of epidemiology
on the faculty of public health at
Harvard.
Dr. Segall's letter will request
their personal cooperation in a
study which seeks to investigate
the causes of heart disease by
studying differences in the inci-
dence of the disease between per-
sons who have migrated from
the United States and Canada to
Israel and their brothers or sis-

Stollman stated in his announce-
ment that the -vast increase in en-
rollment of Bar-Ilan students and
the many students from overseas
necessitate an increased participa-
tion by American Jews in support
of the university.
Dr. Jammer, a physicist, was
born in Berlin. Before emigrat-
ing to Israel, he.studied physics

Half of the study has been com-
pleted. During 1966 and 1967, Dr. 1
Segall and his staff supervised 1
medical examinations of 2,500 per-
sons now living in Israel.

Dr. Jammer, Bar-Ilan President, to Address
Annual Dinner for University Here Dec. 4
and mathematics at the Univer-
sity of Vienna, a study which he
continued at the Hebrew Univer-
sity, where he obtained his PhD
in physics.
After serving in the British
army in the war of Independence,
Dr. Jammer taught physics and
the philosophy of science at the
Hebrew University until 1952, when
he was appointed to lecture at
Harvard University.
During his stay at the University
of Oklahoma, he met the late Dr.
Pinchas Churgin and was invited
to head the physics department at
Bar-Ilan University.
From its inception until now, Dr.
Jammer conducted research and
directed instruction at Bar-Ilan
University, while serving as rector
of the university. In 1967, Dr.
Jammer was elected president.
In 1961, he was awarded the
physics prize of the American
Academy of Arts and Sciences. His
books and research publications
have gained international recog-
nition and appeared in many
languages. One of his books has
recently been translated and pub-
lished by the Russian Academy of
Science in Moscow.
1 Dora Ehrlich Memorial Fund Project
Planned for Mt. Scopus by Hadassah
A Dora Ehrlich Memorial Fund ,
for Physical Rehabilitation in the I
restored Hadassah complex in the;
Mt. Scopus area in Jerusalem has
been established by Hadassah in
memory of the departed leader.
Rabbi Irwin Groner, who con-
ducted the funeral service for Mrs.
Joseph H. Ehrlich in the main
sanctuary of Shaarey Zedek, last
Friday morning, announced the
establishment of this memorial
tribute by the Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah, which will be receiving
the contributions toward this fund.
Rabbi Groner also announced
that during the entire Shiva
week a special Kaddish was to
be recited in memory of Mrs.
Ehrlich during the daily services
at the Shaarey Zedek.
In his tribute to the departed
leader, Rabbi Groner enumerated
the scores of community services,
Jewish and civic, that were per-
formed by the woman leader who
had inspired thousands for devoted
services to Israel, Zionism, Jewish
