The "silent movie with the live
sound" returns for a one-night
stand 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Red-
ford Theater, when the Motor City
Chapter of the American Theater
Organ Enthusiasts present the
1925 version of the silent film,
"The Lost World," with musical
accompaniment on the theater pipe
organ with John Muri at the con-
sole.
The event is the third annual

at the theater. "The Lost World"
was one of the first science-fiction
films to be made and featured a
cast including Wallace Beery,
Louis Stone, Lloyd Hughes and
Bessie Love. Elaborate animated
sets were used for the sequences
involving pre-historic monsters en-
countered by members of the cast
in their excursion into the past.

a bad peace.—Franklin

lon, where chairs were lined up in
front of a color TV in box seat
fashion and hot dogs, peanuts and
beer were served . . . It was a big
whopper for Tiger fans as Mickey
Lolich won 8-1 .. Everybody who
attended had a real good time
thanks to hair stylists Bob Taylor,
Roy Calley, Al Nettle . . . and
Mickey Lolich of course .. • When
Detroit returned to St. Louis after
Lolich had extended the series,
there were like parties around
town last Wednesday • . . Then
came the seventh game last Thurs-
day, and parties like the one
thrown by Paul DiDio and Richard
McCarthy at Admiral Mortgage
were in full swing . . . Not only
hot dogs, but complete cold cuts,
potato salad and chips, beer, wine,
champagne and liquor ... Thanks
to Paul and Dick everybody had
a good time . . . but most of all,
thanks to Mickey Lolich and team-
mates who did it again . . . giving
,much cause for the parties to be-
come celebrations for the newly
crowned world champion Detroit
RETURNING FROM NURSERY,
4-year-old Linda Robbins, daugh-
ter of Helene and Merton Rob-
bins, remarked, "On Yom Kippur
the children can eat but mommies
and daddies have to quick!" (fast)
THOSE WHO WISH, may write
to double-amputee Maurice Lahr
at his home, 13657 Stoepel ... Re-
cent item about Maurice has
brought many requests from folks
• .. One was Simon Brozgold who
worked with him at the Western
Market about 40 years ago . . .
They hadn't seen or talked to each
other in over 20 years.
LABEL HOFMITZ had a dream,
and called Rami Amitz-Lev, Israel
emissary to the Jewish National
Fund in Detroit, to confirm it . . .
Label dreamed that Rami's wife
Gallia had just given birth ... His
dream was true—that is, except
for one minor detail ... Label said
it was a boy . .. and the Amitz-
Levs' newly-born is a girl, Yael.
THE DETROIT TIGERS couldn't
have given Rose and Max Tolin a
better present than winning the
World Series on their 25th Wedding
Anniversary day.
BNAI BRITH PLAYS a key role
in the Metropolitan Division of the
Allied Jewish Campaign, supplying
around half of the 285 workers
from 19 lodges ... Alan Nathan is
the incoming chairman, Martin
Taylor, co-chairman and Samuel
Greenberg is on the executive
board ... Louis Barden was chair-
man in 1967 and 1968.
ANN WEINMAN HAD occasion
to call a leading music store in
town about Vladimir Horowitz and
Jascha Heifetz . . . Came the an-
swer from the obviously new
switchboard operator, "Are they
employed here?"
THE SAYING, "You can't see
the forest for the trees" is true
right in our own community . . .
We mean the very fine Center The-
ater which folks don't realize is
one of the finest non-professional
groups presenting plays of top
quality anywhere .. . Supporting
the Jewish Community Theater is
a good way to say "thanks" to all
the folks at Center Theater.
MAYOR JOE JORBES of Oak
Park, tells of a friend writing from
Miami Beach that according to a
newspaper columnist there, the
head of a maternity hospital can't
understand why so many people
stop to chuckle over a sign on the
front lawn stating, "No children
allowed here." ,,,
