`The Two of Us' Opens at Studio 8 Theater The Studio-8 Theater is present- ing "The Two of Us," winner of 10 international awards, directed by Claude Berri and starring Michel Simon and Alain Cohen. The film takes place in Nazi- occupied France in spring 1944. Young Claude (Alain Cohen) is sent by his Jewish parents to stay with a Gentile couple in the country. The father (Michel Simon) is staunchly anti-Semitic, but a warm relationship develops between the two. Simon, considered one of France's greatest screen and stage actors, suffered chemical poisoning in 1957; it resulted in the loss of his speech and memory. He makes his screen comeback in "The Two of Us." This perform- ance won him the Best Actor Award from the 1967 Berlin Film Festival. Cohen was eight-years-old when Berri discovered him at a school in Paris. The boy's performance has been hailed by critics.
