Israel Raises Pensions

JERUSALEM (ZINS)—The law
to increase the pension for Israel's
"golden agers" went into effect
Sept. 1. An individual who pre-
viously had received '71 pounds
a month, will now get 89; a couple
who received 110 pounds, was in-
creased to 139. The new law ben-
efits all Israeli citizens, including
those who did not pay the old-age
insurance tax, and who otherwise
would not have been entitled to
pensions.
