Hadassah will see a play based
on "Fiddler on the Roof" 12:30
p.m. Wednesday at the Hadassah
paid-up membership luncheon at
Temple Beth El. Under the direc-
tion of Mrs. Boris Kreel, the play
is entitled, "Fiddling for the Loot."
Luncheon will be prepared by the
past presidents of Hadassah. Wel-
coming new members will be Mrs.
Benzion Gotlib, membership vice-
president. Mrs. Arnold Schaffer
will give a report on the progress
of Hadassah's donor, scheduled
for Nov. 10.

Beth El Sisterhood will host Bet-
ty Benjamin, first vice president
of the National Federation of Tem-
ple Sisterhoods, as guest speaker
at the annual paid-up membership
luncheon 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at
the temple. Mrs. Benjamin, of Cin-
cinnati, is a past president of the
Issac M. Wise Sisterhood there
and serves on the Issac Meyer
Wise Temple board. She was co-
chairman of the program commit-
tee for the 25th biennial conven-
tion of the NFTS in San Francisco
in 1965 and worked on a similar
committee for the 26th biennial in
Montreal in 1967. Women who pay
sisterhood dues on or before Tues-
day will be luncheon guests.


Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary
will send Hanuka packages to Jew-
ish servicemen. Those with names
and addresses of servicemen are
asked to notify Mrs. Oskar Singer,

room of Dort Mall, 8:30 p.m. Oct.
22. Mrs. Nathan Greenberg, pro-
gram chairman, announces that
Dr. David VerLee, ophthalmologist,
will give his account of a summer
with 10 other doctors from Har-
vard University who contributed
their time and talent to aid the
underprivileged in the British Solo-

Adult Education Courses

Temple Beth El and Cong. Beth
Israel are cosponsoring 10-week
adult education courses beginning
8 p.m. Tuesday at Temple Beth
El. The spring term, beginning
Jan. 7, will be held at Beth Is-
rael.
Three courses will be taught:
modern conversational Hebrew,
taught by the director of Beth
Israel's religious school, Moshe
Giskan; a course on the Bible,
specifically Genesis, using the Mel-
ton Research Center techniques,
taught by Mrs. Milton Barkman;
and basic themes in Jewish his-
tory, taught by Rabbi William
Greenebaum II of Beth El and Rab-
bi Ilillel Alillgram of Beth Israel.
The latter two courses will be
given • for teacher certification
credit to those who desire it, ac-
cording to the guidelines estab-
lished by the Jewish Education
Commission of the Flint Jewish
Community Council.

ing and dancing, and there will be

Guests will include Mayor Floyd
J. McCree; Rev. Earle Ramsdell,
executive director of the Flint
Council of Churches; Rev. Tom
Sagendorf, executive director of

El and Hillel Millgram of Beth Is-
rael; Edwin G. Shifrin, a member
of the Detroit Jewish Community
Council Culture Commission; and
Joseph Megdell, president of the
Flint Jewish Community Council.

of their daughter Janet Sue to
Richard Joel Mandell, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Mandell of Willi-
mantic, Conn.
Miss Golden is a graduate of the
University of Michigan, where she
received a BA degree. Mr. Man-
dell is a graduate of Dartmouth
College and the University of
Michigan's law school. Last year,
a recipient of a Ford Fellowship,
he studied at the National Univer-
sity of Mexico, Mexico City.

The Senior Friendship Club of
the Flint Jewish Community Coun-
cil at its annual Sukkot party Wed-
nesday in Cong. Beth Israel, hon-
ored Dr. Evelyn Golden, who has
been Council adviser to the group
since its inception, and who, with
her husband, Dr. H. Maxwell Gold-
en, recently returned from a trip
to Israel.
Toastmaster for the program was

extended by Hy Bergman, execu-
tive director of the Council; Rabbi
Hillel Millgram and Rabbi Wil-
liam Greenebaum II.
